Guide To Measuring Splashbacks

Guide to measuring for glass splash backs in multiple sections

Detail 1 – Multiple Panels

1.1) Identify each panel you require by numbering 1, 2,3 etc

2.1) Check all walls are straight and true, flatten out any bulges as the glass is flat and will not bend

3.1) Draw a horizontal line A approximately half way between the top units and the worktop

4.1) Draw lines B & C flush with the inside of the upper cupboards, ensure the lines are parallel by checking dimensions at the top and bottom

5.1) Prepare your sockets with a centre point, the screws are centre vertically, put a pencil mark horizontally at the mid point

6.1) For the side panels, measure each point up from the horizontal line A and also down as shown in the detail 1, deduct 2mm off each as shown, repeat for each end of each panel.

7.1) Measure horizontally from the vertical lines B & C to the end wall (or where you want the splash back to end) and deduct 2mm off each as shown

8.1) For the centre (Extractor area) unit, measure vertically where shown and deduct 4mm and measure horizontally and deduct 4mm (You will notice that only 2mm was taken off the horizontal measurement for the side panels, this is because there is already an expansion gap created by deducting 4mm off the extractor panel)

9.1) If you are returning a panel on either end, repeat steps above but ensure you leave a 2mm expansion gap at each end PLUS allow additional 8mm if you are abutting another panel

10.1) Finally, carry out a check measurement at the green vertical lines to ensure that the cupboards are not lower in the centre

Detail 1a - Sockets and cut outs

1.1a) Measure down from line A to centre of socket

2.1a) Measure across from line B to pencil mark at centre of socket, do not deduct 2mm

3.1a) Repeat process for each socket and identify to each panel i.e. 1, 2, 3 etc

Tip!

Draw your results out on a large piece of paper and CHECK ALL MEASUREMENTS

Finally, sketch all the measurements and send them to us via email and we will draw them up for your final approval and FINAL CHECK!

Detail 2 – Single panel

1.2) Identify each panel you require by numbering 1, 2,3 etc

2.2) Check all walls are straight and true, flatten out any bulges as the glass is flat and will not bend

3.2) Draw a horizontal line A approximately half way between the top units and the worktop

4.2) Draw a vertical line B at approximately the halfway point

5.2) Prepare your sockets with a centre point, the screws are centre vertically, put a pencil mark horizontally at the mid point

6.2) Measure horizontally from the vertical line B to the end wall (or where you want the splash back to end) and deduct 2mm off each as shown

7.2) Finally, carry out a check measurement at the green vertical lines to ensure that the cupboards are not lower in the centre

Detail 2a - Sockets and cut outs

1.2a) Measure down from line A to centre of socket

2.2a) Measure across from line B to pencil mark at centre of socket and do not deduct 2mm

3.2a) Repeat process for each socket and identify to each panel i.e. 1, 2, 3 etc

Detail 3 – Notched panels - corner

1.3) Identify each panel you require by numbering 1, 2,3 etc

2.3) Check all walls are straight and true, flatten out any bulges as the glass is flat and will not bend

3.3) Draw a horizontal line A approximately half way between the top units and the worktop

4.3) Draw vertical line B centrally in the tallest section,

5.3) Prepare your sockets with a centre point, the screws are centre vertically, put a pencil mark horizontally at the mid point

6.3) Measure each point up from the horizontal line A and also down as shown in detail 3, deduct 2mm off each as shown, repeat for each end of each panel.

7.3) Measure horizontally from vertical line B as shown and deduct 2mm off each dimension as indicated

8.3) Finally, carry out a check measurement at the green vertical lines to ensure that the cupboards are not lower in the centre

Detail 3a - Sockets and cut outs

1.3a) Measure down from line A to centre of socket

2.3a) Measure across from line B to pencil mark at centre of socket, do not deduct 2mm

3.3a) Repeat process for each socket and identify to each panel i.e. 1, 2, 3 etc

1.4) Identify each panel you require by numbering 1, 2,3 etc

2.4) Check all walls are straight and true, flatten out any bulges as the glass is flat and will not bend

3.4) Draw a horizontal line A at an appropriate point between the top units and the worktop

4.4) Draw vertical line B & C either side of the centre cut-out,

5.4) Prepare your sockets with a centre point, the screws are centre vertically, put a pencil mark horizontally at the mid point

6.4) Measure each point up from the horizontal line A and also down as shown in detail 4, deduct 2mm off each as shown, repeat for each end of each panel.
